Initial Visit (6-8 weeks of age)

o Physical Examination
o Fecal Exam to check for internal parasites and deworming as needed.
o Diet and Care Discussion
o 1st Distemper Vaccine
o Nail Trim

o Monitor Growth and Development
o 2nd Distemper Vaccine
o Start Heartworm Prevention (Revolution)
o Nail Trim

Third Visit (14 weeks)

o Physical Examination
o Monitor Growth and Development
o Rabies Vaccine (1 year)

Fourth Visit (16 weeks)

o Physical Examination
o Monitor of Growth and Development
o 3rd (Final) Distemper Vaccine (1 year)
o Nail Trim

Annual Visits

o Physical Examinations
o Annual Rabies Vaccine
o Annual Distemper vaccine
o Annual Heartworm Test
o Refill Heartworm Prevention(Revolution)
o Discuss any care or health concerns
o Nail Trim
o Dentistry as Needed

Greater than 2 Years

o There are a number of diseases that can develop in ferrets after 2 years of age. Some of these include adrenal disease, insulinoma, neoplasia and cardiac disease. Early detection of these diseases is crucial to the longevity of your pet.
o Bi-annual Physical Exams
o Follow all other Annual Recommendations

Greater than 4 Years

o At this age, there is an even greater risk for these diseases to develop therefore more aggressive screening protocols are recommended.
o Bi-annual Physical Exams
o Annual Blood work
o X-rays
o Ultrasound
o Follow all other Annual Recommendations
